Calrec Audio is exclusively dedicated to excellence in audio mixing for on-air and live production. The Apollo, Artemis, and Summa consoles all leverage the increased power of FPGA technology, providing more digital audio channels for 5.1 surround production and more user-friendly control surfaces to deal with them. These control surfaces are flexible to accommodate operator needs — and in the case of Summa, the intuitive and straightforward user interface simplifies tasks and speeds up workflow. This enhanced flexibility and control allows consoles with relatively few physical controls to drive a much greater number of channels, busses, and outputs.

Calrec consoles have an excellent reputation for reliability and on-air stability. Unlike many other consoles that claim redundant features, Calrec provides online redundant hardware for all critical systems as standard. DSP, router, processing, and PSU cards are all hot-pluggable and supplied with hot spares as standard — all within a single, lightweight, space-saving, energy-conscious 8U or 4U rack.

Calrec’s Hydra2 seamless, scalable audio networking infrastructure links the Apollo, Artemis, and Summa consoles allowing for a large numbers of inputs and outputs to be shared and controlled regardless of location. Offering up to 512 bidirectional channels, Hydra2 makes connecting resources very straightforward. Audio interfaces and consoles can be added and removed without manual intervention, making new resources available to console operators instantaneously.

Hydra2 supports third-party control protocols to ensure that data can be shared freely among video and audio equipment. As transport protocols such as AVB, Ravenna, Dante and AES67 evolve, Calrec will continue to take an agnostic approach to these technologies — with the aim of providing greater interoperability.
