Calrec Audio

Exclusively dedicated to excellence in audio mixing for on-air and live production.

A broadcast specialist for more than 50 years, Calrec has developed a range of digital consoles and networking products which are relied on by the world’s most successful broadcasters, who use them in everything from multi-studio complexes to outside broadcast trucks.

Alongside DiGiCo, Allen & Heath and SSL, Calrec is part of the Audiotonix group of British console companies.

Calrec’s consoles go far beyond mixing. They are sophisticated digital instruments that take advantage of current and emerging networking technologies to facilitate infinitely more efficient and streamlined audio workflows.

The Apollo, Artemis, Summa and Brio consoles all leverage the power of FPGA technology, providing more digital audio channels for 5.1 surround production and more user-friendly control surfaces to interact with them. These control surfaces are flexible to accommodate operator needs, and their enhanced flexibility and control allows consoles with relatively few physical controls to drive a much greater number functions and features.

Calrec’s Type R is a modular, expandable, IP-based radio system from Calrec. It combines standard networking hardware with soft panels which can be tailored to operator needs. Its simple 2U core with integrated I/O resources can power up to three independent mixing environments.

Providing huge cost savings and efficiency improvements, Remote Production is a growth area of live broadcast which Calrec is proud to be leading – Calrec’s RP1 is an audio solution that eradicates the three major challenges of remote production; latency, control and transport. The RP1 allows monitor and IFB mixes to be created onsite, be remotely controlled from a centralised studio and transported via the broadcaster’s protocol of choice. In response to market demands for more content with no loss of quality the remote production model has grown without the need for a massive budget increase and the requirement for more expensive trucks.

Calrec’s networking protocols provide seamless, scalable audio networking infrastructures which allow for large numbers of inputs and outputs to be shared and controlled regardless of location. Whether on Hydra2 or over IP, Calrec makes connecting and managing resources very straightforward.

Calrec’s dedication to the AIMS roadmap ensures transport protocols such as AES67, Dante and Ravenna continue to evolve and in doing so gives greater interoperability choices to its customers.
