One of the key trends at IBC 2022 is virtualization and moving to cloud-native infrastructures. Manufacturers and users want to improve workflow efficiencies with whole cloud ecosystems and data.
Streamlining IP based production, virtualization of audio production technology and enabling immersive experiences for mainstream viewers are key themes at IBC 2022.
Founded in 2004 as Appear TV, the company rebranded in 2021 as Appear to better reflect its expanding product portfolio and the non-broadcast customers (like telcos, head-end operators and the hospitality sector) it is now supporting. Based in Oslo, Appear launched a new U.S. division in April 2022, with sales/technical support offices in Palo Alto, Calif., Denver and the East Coast. They also maintain a sales, support and operations office in Southampton, UK.
The scope and scale of broadcast monitoring and compliance (M&C) has increased greatly in the three years since the last physical IBC show in 2019, with vendors now showing off capabilities designed to compete on an expanded front beyond the basic operational and legal functions required.
The idea of “content everywhere” is of course well established. Consumers like the idea that they can consume media – including video – on whichever device is to hand. Mobiles and tablets are seen as primary viewing devices today. More than 80% of internet traffic is video.
With viewers scattered across multiple platforms, the need for content has increased exponentially. So too has the need for an efficient way to manage assets on a large scale. At the IBC Show in Amsterdam, Sept. 9-12, the Media Asset Management (MAM) technology and systems required to support this growing need will be on display for all to see.
Media companies face more complex challenges than ever in a fragmented, fast-evolving landscape. Delivering live video across multiple platforms and geographies requires robust and scalable video transport solutions. To meet today’s required scale and unlock further monetization potential, broadcasters need viable and reliable alternatives to satellite and fiber, which are both costly and limiting. Navigating change and embracing new technologies can be daunting – but with the right technology partner and best-in-class solutions and services, media companies can achieve order and peace of mind in a challenging and frequently chaotic ecosystem.
Producing and distributing live video events has evolved. A move to increased live event production and new audience experiences that had already been underway was greatly accelerated with the pandemic.
