Cobalt Digital’s IBC Line-up Features IP Products And Extends 12-G Support Options

Cobalt Digital has announced plans to present its highly anticipated UltraBlue IP-MV line of IP multiviewers, WAVE RTR 64x64 router line optimized for 12G SDI, the new Pacific ULL Decoder, and a new 20-slot frame compatible with openGear all at IBC 2023.

The designer and manufacturer of edge devices for live video production and master control, and a founding partner in the openGear initiative is also highlighting popular units from its recently launched Sapphire series of ST 2110 converters.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

UltraBlue IP-MV Multiviewers
Cobalt is expanding its line of multiviewers with the addition of the UltraBlue IP-MV series of IP multiviewers, a series that can grow with the customer’s needs. UltraBlue IP-MV is being offered as both a software package and a cloud instance with a WebRTC output. These software-based multiviewers can handle a variety of compressed and uncompressed inputs and an arbitrary number of outputs (including individual rotation to portrait), with very flexible audio routing, and an intuitive web interface. UltraBlue also offers support for a comprehensive set of protocols (UDP, RTP, RTSP, RTMP, RIST, SRT).

WAVE RTR-64x64 Router
Cobalt’s WAVE RTR-64x64 Router features a 64x64 crosspoint with support for signals up to 12G-SDI, all packed into a thin 3.75-inch deep 4U frame, with full-size BNC connectors. This router offers high-density with unprecedented flexibility, ease-of-use, and integration. The frame includes an Ethernet port for IP-based controls such as Cobalt’s Reflex, PESA PNET and General Remote protocol SW-P-08. Cobalt is also announcing the WAVE Control Panel Series and is showcasing the WAVE CP-84L product which features 84 back-lit LCD dot matrix display buttons. All buttons are illuminated by Red, Green and Blue LEDs providing a wide array of background colors to choose from.

The unit also incorporates RS-422 & RS-232 9-pin serial communication ports. Web-based controls allow full setup, salvos, monitoring, and preset management. This compact design is specifically optimized for 12G SDI operation but handles lower SDI rates with ease, as well as ASI and MADI.

PACIFIC Ultra Low-Latency Decoder
Cobalt will also present a new decoder at IBC. The PACIFIC ULL-DEC is an openGear card capable of decoding H.262 (MPEG-2), H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC) with less than 10 milliseconds of latency (for properly encoded streams). The card can either decode one stream up to 4K, or two streams up to 3G. It supports an extensive set of audio CODECs and network protocols, including RIST. When combined with the Cobalt 9992-ENC, this solution can achieve an end-to-end latency of less than one frame.

HPF-MAX Frame
The HPF-MAX is a new 20-slot frame compatible with all openGear cards. It has 700W of available power, a built-in Gigabit Ethernet backplane, and intelligent power supplies.

Cobalt is also showcasing the following units from its growing Sapphire Converter Series.

Sapphire 8JXS-8S – ST 2110 JPEG-XS to SDI Bulk Gateway
Cobalt’s Sapphire 8JXS-8S, a ST 2110 JPEG-XS to SDI bulk gateway in openGear form factor includes dual 25Gb/s Ethernet ports for SMPTE ST 2022-7 seamless switching and supports up to 8 SDI signals, up to 1920x1080p60. The card occupies four slots, allowing for up to five cards and 40 signal conversions in a standard openGear chassis. Like all Sapphire converters, the card includes full NMOS support for ease of configuration in addition to the standard openGear DashBoard.

Sapphire BBG-2110-H/S & Sapphire BBG-2110-2H - ST 2110 JPEG-XS to HDMI Converter Appliance
The Sapphire BBG-2110-H/S & Sapphire BBG-2110-2H mini converters are part of Cobalt’s Blue Box Group (BBG) series developed to offer high-quality design, function, and reliability in a small package. The units are intended to be mounted behind the monitor and include single or dual 25Gb/s ports (for ST 2022-7 redundancy). The BBG models are available as a single channel (one HDMI port) - Sapphire BBG-2110-H/S, and as a dual-channel unit (two HDMI ports) - Sapphire BBG-2110-2H. The mini converters also include full NMOS support for ease of configuration.

Sapphire BIDI-2H2S dual channel bidirectional HDMI to SDI / SDI to HDMI converter
Cobalt’s Sapphire BIDI-2H2S is a dual channel bidirectional HDMI to SDI/SDI to HDMI converter. Each channel can be independently configured to have either SDI or HDMI inputs and each channel has simultaneous SDI and HDMI outputs. This provides input and output options with independent paths of true 3G and HD conversions to and from all the SD-SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI formats and HDMI. With both SDI and HDMI inputs and outputs (2 each), each path is equipped with frame sync as well as full input and output audio cross-points and optional per-path color correction. Input and output SDI and HDMI cross-points allow bi-directional program sourcing and distribution across both sets of inputs and outputs.
