​Caton Technology Adds Switchable Encoder-Decoder Appliances

Caton Technology has launched Caton Prime, an ultra-low latency HEVC encoder and decoder supporting UHD and Caton Live which offers an encoder and decoder in a single device for IP transmission.

“Our extensive experience in connecting events and content businesses, across the country or across the globe, gives us a great understanding of what the market really needs,” said Gerald Wong, SVP, Global Operations of Caton Technology. “Caton Prime was developed to meet the needs of our customers who expect to seamlessly deliver Ultra HD video. We also have many users setting up ad-hoc connections to the public internet, who want a portable and flexible device that delivers excellent quality and stability over limited bandwidths, which is why we added Caton Live.”

Caton Prime is described as highly interoperable, supporting not just CTP, but also other major industry-standard protocols like SRT and UDP. It targets 24-hour broadcasting and applications like HoW, tele-medicine and the enterprise.

Designed for delivery to multiple platforms, Caton Live supports H.264 video at streaming rates up to 20 Mb/s, from 3G-SDI and HDMI inputs. This targets live-streaming applications such as sports and events, conferences and education.

The Singapore-based vendor says CVP ensures reliable real-time transport of high-quality video and data under the strictest service level agreements.
