Bitmovin Expands Live Encoding And Observability Solutions

Bitmovin, a provider of video streaming solutions, has expanded its Live Encoding and Observability solutions to deliver true end-to-end real-time observability for live streaming workflows from live encoding through to playback. By unifying data from both live encoding and playback, video service providers can now detect, diagnose and resolve issues across the entire live streaming pipeline from source encoding through to viewer devices.

Bitmovin’s Observability is an existing data solution that delivers real-time insights into video playback. With its deep session-level insights and advanced error debugging, the platform has been designed specifically for real-time monitoring, making it ideal for live streaming of high-value events such as sports.

As well as enabling advanced error detection and faster issue resolution, video services can also use the new functionality to analyze how different live encoding profiles impact playback Quality of Experience, in terms of buffering, startup, join times and other factors. Encoding profiles can then be optimized to increase performance end-to-end. Additionally, it can be used to test live encoding on Smart TVs and CTV devices using Bitmovin’s Stream Lab to confirm successful playback and performance across devices.

Live sports and live event streaming, as well as live FAST channels, are huge growth areas, and this is driving the need for real-time observability data across the entire workflow from encoding to playback. This is particularly important for live event streaming because unlike VOD, live streaming does not allow for reprocessing or remediation post-delivery, therefore issues must be detected and resolved in real time.

Bitmovin will be demonstrating this new capability at 2026 NAB Show in Las Vegas.
