World Archery Brings Production In-House With Appear’s X Platform & SRT Solutions

Appear, a global leader in live production technology, has announced that World Archery has adopted its X Platform to power live event coverage across its global calendar. With 14 events already delivered using Appear’s technology, and 12 more scheduled over the summer, World Archery now has full control of its content delivery as well as reducing costs and significantly improving the quality and consistency of its live streams.
“By removing the complexity of our previous broadcast setup, we now deliver consistent, high-quality coverage with minimal setup time,” said Chris Wells, Head of Communications at World Archery. “Appear’s X Platform has allowed us to regain full control of our content, ensure that our audiences around the world enjoy a seamless viewing experience, and reduce operational costs. Our calculations indicate that we gain all these advantages from an investment that has a payback period of just 18 months.”
Previously World Archery was fully reliant on third-party production and distribution partners, using complex and expensive workflows in challenging locations across the globe. This could result in inconsistent quality, limited signal control, and service outages, especially when priority was given to higher-volume content. World Archery has now centralised its live production at its Lausanne-based Excellence Centre, giving it full control of the content pathway and wider distribution. World Archery’s proof-of-concept began in February 2025 and went live in under a month.
By deploying Appear’s X20 chassis, including modules for Secure Reliable Transport (SRT), decoding and multi-network management, World Archery has transitioned to a fully IP-based production model that is more reliable, flexible and cost-effective. World Archery now streams SRT video from venues around the world directly to its Excellence Centre in Lausanne, where the streams are decoded and redistributed via IP to 15+ global video distribution partners, including regional broadcasters and streaming platforms. The Appear X Platform has enabled greater reach for World Archery’s content and provides more predictable quality across its events.
World Archery’s journey demonstrates a wider opportunity for federations seeking cost-effective control over their live production. The success of this deployment is already inspiring interest from other sporting bodies facing similar challenges.
“Previously the preserve of larger sports, World Archery’s deployment demonstrates how our X Platform and SRT solutions now enable almost any sport federation to profitably take production in-house,” said Chris Alner, SVP – Commercial Director EMEA, Appear. “SRT is a real game-changer, reducing complexity and cost, and providing World Archery with the flexibility to expand its service offerings by moving away from satellite to high-quality, flexible and sustainable IP-based workflows.”
