TV SIM Builds For The Future With High Efficiency Transmitter From Rohde & Schwarz

TV SIM, the SBT affiliate serving Espírito Santo state in Brazil, has launched a transmitter upgrade initiative with the installation of a Rohde & Schwarz R&S®TE1 television transmitter. This marks the first deployment of this innovative and flexible model in Latin America and the first operation utilizing the ISDB-Tb transmission standard.

TV SIM, headquartered in Espírito Santo and part of Grupo SIM – sought a new transmitter to expand coverage around Vitória. After evaluating available options, TV SIM selected the R&S®TE1 for its superior operational efficiency and robust, reliable design.

The R&S®TE1 is a modular, liquid-cooled transmitter capable of delivering high power. Currently configured for 5.4 kW radiated power, its modular architecture allows for scalable upgrades to meet future needs. This, combined with its digital architecture, ensures future-proofing against evolving broadcast requirements.

The R&S®TE1’s advanced design provides significantly improved efficiency, typically reducing energy costs by 15% compared to comparable transmitters. Liquid cooling further enhances efficiency by dissipating up to 90% of generated heat directly to the atmosphere, minimizing the need for power-intensive air conditioning. As a result, the R&S®TE1 typically achieves a 40% lower carbon footprint than alternative solutions.

The new R&S®TE1 transmitter was commissioned for live broadcasting by the end of this year with support from Rohde & Schwarz.
