Viaccess Orca Integrates OTT Platform For Avatel

Spanish telco Avatel is running its new OTT video service on a platform supplied and integrated by Viaccess-Orca (VO), a Paris based provider of online TV platforms, also incorporating encoding, origin packaging, cloud DVR, and CDN from Ateme, as well as multiscreen apps from Optiva Media. The platform enables Avatel to deliver its 100 online channels and an on-demand catalog of more than 2,500 movies and TV series to users through a voice-controlled Android TV set top box connected to the telco’s fiber network, or alternatively watch on iOS/Android mobile devices such as smartphones or laptops.

Avatel has adopted an on-premises architecture for the deployment, using VO’s multi-DRM and Secure Video Player to deliver premium live and VOD content with protection against piracy or unauthorized use on any device.

Ateme played a key role as supplier of multi-codec encoding, origin/packaging in any major format, scalable cloud DVR, and audience-aware CDN. It also supplies dynamic ad insertion systems.
