Consumption of news on mobile devices has been soaring for over a decade, overtaking desktop PCs in 2016 in many markets such as the US and some European countries.
Media streaming over the internet is unique. Packet switched networks were never designed to deliver continuous and long streams of media but instead were built to efficiently process transactional and short bursts of data. The long streams of video and audio data are relentless in their network demands and to distribute them effectively requires the adoption of specialist CDNs.

The NFL (National Football League) Super Bowl has been a show piece for TV technology since its inception in 1967 and more recently for the power of data analytics, both to improve performance on the field and increase engagement for viewers.
With this year’s Super Bowl LVI telecast coming smack dab in the middle of the Winter Olympics, NBC Sports crews will have their hands full. Having to navigate both high profile events on the same day, NBC is calling it the “one of the greatest days in the history of television sports [production]” and a “Once In A Lifetime” event.

This year’s Winter Olympics Games, coming a mere six months after the 2021 Summer Games, is set to begin Feb. 4-20 amidst a persistent pandemic that will once again limit how the television production teams can interact on-site in Beijing, China, and do their jobs. This year’s Paralympics, also based in Beijing, are scheduled for March 4 to 13.
