MediaKind Partners Zixi For IP Video Delivery

MediaKind and Zixi have collaborated to integrate the latter’s Software-Defined Video Platform (SDVP) into the former’s contribution encoder for IP video delivery.
MediaKind has integrated Zixi in its CE Mini contribution encoder, a low power and small form factor device enabling video service providers to deliver broadcast quality video over managed or unmanaged IP networks.
The CE Mini provides the compression performance required for many live video contribution use cases and is particularly aimed at delivering into public cloud instances or social media platforms. The CE Mini has the video and audio compression together with the security and error protection to provide a reliable contribution link.
With increasing adoption of remote production and use of cloud-based video production tools, many content creators must address the challenge of how to push high quality video and audio into the cloud over unmanaged IP links, reliably and at acceptable latency. To address these challenges, Zixi is now natively integrated in, and standard on, all MediaKind CE Mini encoders, able to stream to any deployed Zixi Broadcaster.
Low latency error free transport over IP networks is critical for TV service providers contributing and delivering live video over unmanaged IP networks. The Zixi protocol is a resilient congestion and network-aware protocol that adjusts to varying network conditions and employs dynamic Forward Error Correction techniques for low error video transport over IP with claimed 99.9999% uptime. It supports DTLS and AES encryption and allows protected multicast transport.
"With Zixi's excellent reputation for delivering live, broadcast-quality video our customers have asked that we integrate the SDVP," said Boris Felts, Head of Products, MediaKind.
