Megacable Launches OTT Service On Viaccess-Orca Platform

Megacable, one of Mexico’s largest cable TV providers, is expanding its Xview+ OTT service to Android TV set-top boxes using the Viaccess-Orca TV Platform package.

The platform was chosen to simplify delivery of Xview+ to Megacable subscribers and enable them to access live, VOD, time-shift TV, catch-up TV, and recorded content, as well as premium OTT offerings on any device.

“As we expand the reach of our Xview+ service nationwide across Mexico, it is critical to partner with a technology provider with extensive OTT deployment expertise and on-the-ground support,” said Gerardo Seifert, CMO at Megacable.

Seifert added that the presence of a local engineering team to simplify roll out was crucial, as was the support of VO’s partner ecosystem, including Dotscreen, Broadpeak, Technicolor, ZTE and Oregan.

Megacable’s Xview+ service merges content from multiple sources and unifies the user experience for subscribers. It includes end-to-end security for revenue protection, with content encryption, device authentication, license management, and parental control, as well as a secure player. There is also analytics-based content discovery and TV apps features that will allow Megacable to deliver personalized content recommendations.
