Vidispine Releases Latest Updates And A Development Toolkit

Updates include shape analysis and conform to the Vidispine transcoder and support for importing and synchronizing EIDR-metadata.

In Vidispine 4.14 user naming enables users to change the name of any user, as well as adding aliases on a user to allow login using, for example, both username and e-mail. From now it’s also possible to use access keys to authenticate a user instead of username and password. The changes in user management together with better control of what is logged also simplifies building a GDPR-compliant system.

The release also supports importing and synchronizing of EIDR-metadata into the Vidispine metadata model, keeping your metadata up to date with the EIDR records. It is also possible to transform EIDR metadata into Vidispine metadata. On the search side, Vidispine now supports ElasticsSearch 6.x, and no longer supports ElasticSearch version < 5.5.x due to the removal of mapping types.

Vidispine made it easier to navigate storage with a directory structure and now support transcode presets to create videos with multiple audio tracks.

The firm’s transcoder on Vidinet, both on Azure and AWS, has been updated to support shape analysis and conform. The transcoder also supports placeholder raw import on Vidinet.

There’s also an update to the Vidispine Content Viewer VCV that is included in the Vidispine API Starter Edition to v1.0. The Vidispine Content Viewer gives users a peek into system, and storage, as well as a simple way to import and view assets. VCV is built on the new Vidispine Development Toolkit – which is UI framework connected directly to the Vidispine API which can be used to help build a media supply chain with the Vidispine API as a backbone.
