Discovery Networks MENA Commits Multi-Channel Playout And Content Management To Pebble Beach Systems

All of Discovery Networks Middle East and Asia (MENA)’s channels are now under the fully automated control of a new 8-channel Marina system from Pebble Beach Systems. The fully redundant playout platform is installed at Du-Samacom, a regional operator of satellite support services.

Local systems integrator Tek Signals installed the Pebble Beach equipment, which provides fully-redundant playout and control of all Discovery Networks MENA’s HD channels. Other equipment in the project included; Harmonic Spectrum servers, Pixel Power graphics, and Polistream subtitling; with transcoding handled by Telestream.

Bassem Maher, Head of Operations at Discovery Networks MENA, said that they needed a solution that was capable of handling its rigorous redundancy requirements and would offer the capability of future expansion. Pebble Beach delivered a dynamic automated graphics workflow and the ability to archive the media to an onsite tape library.

Marina is a centralized ingest, content management and multi-channel automation solution for systems from one to hundreds of channels. Combining flexibility with resiliency, it is designed to meet and anticipate the evolving needs of all types of media environments.
