SCISYS Deutschland

SCISYS Deutschland, part of the SCISYS Group, produces the dira! radio automation and playout system that is used by a variety of national and regional broadcasters, including the BBC, ERTU in Egypt, Voice of Vietnam and several Germany public stations. The company has its headquarters in Bochum, where dira! was designed to be a complete system for radio production, including newsroom, music playlisting, traffic and billing applications, integrating audio editing, scheduling, playout, and reporting. It is scalable and can be built up from single-site installation for one network to nationwide, networked, multi-site installations, giving full access to all material and automation control from every location.

VCS was bought in 2007 by UK IT services and systems company SCISYS PLC and now forms part of the group's Media Broadcasting division. VCS was rebranded as SCISYS Deutschland in January 2012 in a move to further integrate activities within the group.

In 2016 SCISYS Group acquired ANNOVA Systems GmbH, a leading German supplier of newsroom software systems.

SCISYS Deutschland's broadcasting systems comprise dira! Radio, the dira! Newsroom computer/agency system, dira! Multimedia for new platforms and the Media Asset Management package. This last system was designed from scratch and is not tied to a specific hardware configuration or media type. It is based on the same framework as dira! and offers a flexible metadata database and scalable data services, which can deliver video, audio, texts and stills in any combination to any connected user. The native client and web interface can be configured to handle material in multiple locations simultaneously, with full integration with dira! for production or archiving.
