After more than a dozen years of award-winning innovation in building robust, intuitive field-production audio products, Sound Devices expanded into the competitive video market, with a focus on film and television broadcast industries, by unveiling Video Devices, a new brand for its video product portfolio.
Since its launch, the Video Devices brand has expanded on its earlier successes with a new line of rack-mounted video recorders. These ground-breaking product additions, which include the PIX 270i and PIX 250i, have opened new markets for the Midwest US-based company, such as multi-camera sports broadcasting, corporate events, and multi-campus houses of worship.
The network-connected video decks offer significant advantages and time-savings to the more demanding production workflows by providing tapeless, file-based recording and playback with the ability to remotely control, setup, and transfer high-quality files over Ethernet. The devices record edit-ready, industry-standard files (Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD) and allow simultaneous multiple-drive recording, giving production staff peace of mind with their redundancy and backup capabilities. Combined with extensive audio capabilities, such as 64 channels of both MADI audio and Dante audio-over-Ethernet for PIX 270i a world’s first for a video deck, these award-winning units are complete, cost-effective tools that are ideal for high-performance video capture and presentation.
Video Devices products are used in a wide range of applications including:
- Single-camera ENG-style production.
- Documentary film and video production.
- Reality television production.
- Feature film production.
- Multi-camera Sports and News broadcasting.
