Venera Technologies

Since the company’s inception in 2003, Venera has continually provided innovative video analysis products tailored to the evolving requirements of both its customers and the larger media marketplace. Venera's flagship offering, the Pulsar automated file-based QC solution, along with its Rapid add-on module, improves the operational efficiency of file-based workflows by automating content QC processes and ensuring consistent content quality throughout those workflows.

Venera’s ongoing development of the Pulsar product family addresses key challenges that have come with broadcasters’ adoption of file-based workflows and the industry-wide shift toward exchanging media content in file form. Because file-based workflows involve a wide range of technologies that were not common in the tape-based world, the task of maintaining interoperability among different organizations in the value chain has become a significant challenge for the industry. Venera solutions address the fact that in order to deal effectively with the technical complexities introduced due to the file-based movement of content from system to system, site to site, and business to business, media organizations need QC tools that can quickly and cost-effectively detect issues that would be difficult to locate manually.

The Pulsar product line is designed to give users flexibility in workflow design, allowing them to perform quick scanning-sorting or in-depth QC at the workflow stages of their choice. In addition to enabling technically complicated checks for issues concerning digital hits, blockiness, or active aspect ratio, Pulsar systems also allow users to ensure that their media is in compliance with regulations and standards such as the EBU R128 or CALM Act. With built-in support for adaptive bitrate formats such as Apple HLS and Microsoft Smooth Streaming, Pulsar is valuable in Web delivery environments. Venera has built this technology on an SOA architecture to facilitate future flexibility and to simplify integration of its automated file-based QC products with other leading solution providers’ products.
