MAXON Computer GmbH was founded in 1986 by current chief executives Harald Egel, Harald Schneider and Uwe Bärtels. The company has its headquarters in Friedrichsdorf near Frankfurt and also runs subsidiaries in the US and UK with other offices in Paris, Tokyo and Singapore. On a worldwide basis MAXON products are supplied by over 150 distributors in more than 80 countries.
Since the beginning of 2000 70 percent of MAXON shares have been held by the Munich Nemetschek AG (www.nemetschek.com) construction group, with the remainder still owned by the company founders. When MAXON started out it was involved in the development of hardware and software, as well as the publication of computer trade magazines. Since then the company has developed into a leading software developer for the 3D graphics market. MAXON's focus is now purely on software-production, with its main products including the CINEMA 4D animation system for media production and the BodyPaint 3D painting program.
Key features of all MAXON software packages are given as high operating speeds, reliability and innovative technologies. MAXON works with a number of development partners, including manufacturers of both computer hardware manufacturers and software and is able to adapt its programs to meet new technologies. MAXON customers include: ABC, Blizzard Entertainment, BMW, BSkyB, CNN, Fox, ITV Creative, MPC (Moving Picture Company), NBC, NFL Network, Rhythm & Hues, Siemens VDO, Sony Pictures Imageworks, The Walt Disney Company, Turner Broadcasting and Vitra.
