Cinedeck brings Closed Captioning Insert Edits to IBC

Cinedeck’s cineXtools can change a misspelled caption with a single insert edit—even after the master file is rendered.
Cinedeck, the folks who figured out how to insert edit into a finished and rendered master file, demonstrated a completely new closed captioning environment with a major addition to the cineXtools box.
“This works the same as all the other insert edit capabilities our cineXtools makes possible,” Charles Dautremont, CTO of Cinedeck told The Broadcast Bridge. “Now, if you have found an error in your closed captioning, you can correct it with a single insert edit without having to re-export and re-wrap the entire file.”
The foundation of cineXtools’ captioning module will be a caption creation and management environment, and the module will support direct inserts from .MCC, .CAP, .SCC and .AAF files to master files that have a caption track.
Instead of completely re-exporting ProRes, DNx, XDCAM or DPP files, cineXtools saves time by overwriting corrections and changes using patches of video, audio or captions.
It also makes extracting SD analog captions possible, as well as automatic, in-place conversions from 608 to 708 captions.
