SSL Chooses Adder Technology for IP-Based KVM Flexibility

Adder Technology has been chosen by audio console manufacturer Solid State Logic (SSL) to provide an IP-based KVM solution for its Product Demonstration Area (PDA).

Built over two floors, Solid State Logic’s PDA is a suite of six fully functioning production suites that is used for demonstrations, training sessions, testing and product development, with an additional three workstations that can be accessed from each suite as and when required. However, as the amount of technology used across the PDA has continued to grow, the manual patching that routes the audio signals between the suites and the workstations grew increasingly complex. 

SSL recently installed an IP infrastructure across the entire site to remedy this problem, but it still required an IP-based KVM switching and extension solution. Having previously worked together, SSL enlisted Adder to implement a system that would allow seamless switching and working between the PDA’s suites and workstations. After much consideration, SSL chose to use the Adder DDX30 matrix for this.

The solution is made up of one AdderView DDX30 switch, four AdderView DDX computer access modules (CAMs) at the computer and six AdderView DDX USR, which sit at the user end and allow access to the nominated computers via an intuitive interface. This solution was implemented over SSL’s existing infrastructure and is flexible enough to integrate with a wide range of computers and USB devices.  

By using the AdderView DDX30 matrix, SSL was also able to circumvent the issue it had previously faced in regards to the Mac hardware it uses throughout its PDA. While other competitors’ solutions were not compatible with Mac, Adder was able to deliver fluid Apple format DVI video with no latency-related issues.
