Matrox Announces DSX LE4 IP; Dedicated Broadcast IP Card for Developers

Matrox Video has announced the Matrox DSX LE4 IP video card, the latest addition to the DSX line of developer products. Expanding Matrox’s offerings to fit within every IP workflow, DSX LE4 IP is a low-profile, half-length PCI Express card offering multi-channel (4-input/4-output) HD video over 10 GbE, with the added security of ST 2022-7 redundancy, and guaranteed bursting free packets with zero CPU usage.
Providing on-card IP encapsulation of HD, 3G, and 4K video for all IP transport protocols, including SMPTE 2110, SMPTE 2022-6, SMPTE 2022-7, and ASPEN, the DSX LE4 IP card ensures interoperability with all compliant upstream and downstream equipment. Through its standard NIC capabilities and on-board traffic shaping, the DSX LE4 IP also offers system builders the added reassurance of CPU-free networking, removing the risk of processing-induced glitches. This further guarantees compliance with all features of the emerging SMPTE 2110 standard.

According to Matrox Video’s senior director of sales and marketing, Alberto Cieri, the need for affordable, reliable IP infrastructure presented a challenge in the transition to IP workflows. “With the DSX LE4 IP, we’re providing a product that is IP-enabling, dependable, and standards compliant, therefore broadly interoperable. Matrox has been working to ease the transition from SDI to IP without sacrificing broadcast quality, and we believe this product accomplishes just that for our OEMs.”
Accompanied by comprehensive Matrox DSX SDKs for Windows and Linux, and the dedicated support of Matrox applications engineering, this new card provides an easy and flexible path for OEMs to offer IP-enabled, small-footprint platforms including channel-in-a-box systems, video servers, broadcast graphics systems, encoders, transcoders, multiviewers, switchers, and other digital media equipment to market quickly and affordably.
The Matrox DSX SDKs offer a common API platform across all Matrox DSX Developer Products, providing a full set of powerful tools, including versatile file reading/writing, memory management, streaming synchronization, and a large selection of software codecs and effects. A prototyping tool provides a graphic representation of all hardware components so developers can simulate and test use cases within minutes, before writing a single line of code.
