VSN Explorer Adds Online Thesaurus

IBC will be VSN’s showcase for a preview of the integration of asset management software VSN Explorer with an online thesaurus. The addition of relevant information extracted from several internet sources will provide the catalogue worker or journalist with additional data and make the user experience “even more interesting and insightful” according to the Spanish company.

Integration with the online thesaurus is in its final stage of development and will allow for automatically linking and associating additional information extracted from the internet (maps, locations, history, images, biography, etc.) to any concrete word that has been published.

“Linked Data is how the semantic web connects between different data distributed across the Web,” says Manuel Escribano, VSN's CTO. “VSN Explorer's integration will allow users access to a huge database comprising interconnected data that complement each other. Users can find all the information they may need about a concrete subject. For example, the name of an International Organisation could be automatically associated to additional data about its foundation, size, competences or even location. Therefore, the media management takes a step forward and complements in an entirely automatic way all the information offered by the media, so that viewers or readers can enjoy it even more.”
