Shure said the new KSM8 microphone was conceived, designed and manufactured to elevate dynamic microphone performance to the highest tier of technical and professional standards. It offers increased vocal clarity from the purest cardioid polar pattern Shure has developed to date.

The microphone has the ability to virtually eliminate proximity effect (vastly increases working distance without on-axis coloration). It offers the smoothest, most natural high-end available on a dynamic microphone (with virtually no presence peak and no EQ/processing required).

At lower frequencies, regarding proximity effect, the KSM8 acts like an omnidirectional microphone though it maintains is cardioid pattern across all frequencies.

The KSM8 is not being sold as “better” than Shure’s other dynamic microphones, but only as another tool for those who don’t like the company’s more traditional unidyne microphones.

The KSM8 is available now in Black and Brushed Nickel, in wired and wireless options. Wireless configurations are assorted in QLX-D (black only), ULX-D, UHF-R and Axient Wireless Systems (black only).

In their normal configuration, the KSM8 is street priced at $500.00.
