Starfish TS Splicer is a complete media replacement system for Ad insertion or content blocking
Starfish Technologies announces its TS Splicer product is now certified for use with HEVC/H.265 encoded streams.
The Starfish Technologies Transport Stream (TS) Splicer was designed to perform low propagation delay, frame accurate or GOP boundary splicing for applications including advertisement insertion, advertisement blocking and regional TV content insertion. It now supports MPEG2, H.264 and HEVC/H.265 encoded media.
The TS Splicer is the next generation of splicing technology and offers a number of benefits over previous splicing products. It is a software based solution running on generic enterprise hardware and supports a large number of channels per server, but with a very low propagation delay when compared to other solutions.
TS Splicer combines the capabilities of SCTE 35 opt-out signal decoding, media storage and transport stream splicing to offer a complete media replacement system for Ad insertion or content blocking (using slate replacement). It can operate in GOP boundary or frame accurate modes, without traditional full stream decoding and re-encoding. It is offered as a fully configured system running on HP server hardware, or as a software only licence.
Starfish Marketing Director Peter Blatchford added, “Content distributors today expect new signal processing technology to support HEVC/H.265, even if they do not yet have an immediate application. Certifying TS Splicer to work with HEVC/H.265 ensures that it is ready for high efficiency coding when they are”.
