The Phabrix Sx TAG is a rack full of familiar T&M gear in handheld form.
At IBC 2018 PHABRIX will be demonstrating the latest hybrid IP/SDI test and measurement tools for SMPTE ST 2022-6 workflows and, for the first time in Europe, for ST 2110 workflows.
"We’re introducing SMPTE ST 2110 support for our Sx and Qx ranges to ensure that broadcasters can transition smoothly from SDI and hybrid SDI/IP operations to the fully IP-based infrastructure and workflows of the future,” said Prin Boon, Product Manager at PHABRIX. “Our popular Sx TAG portable instrument will offer decapsulation/encapsulation of SMPTE ST 2110 and ST 2022-6 for rapid fault finding and compliance testing in broadcast systems.”
TAG is IT
SxTAG is new and made for IP, 3G/HD/SD-SDI, optical SDI, HDMI and Analog test & measurement applications demanding mobility and ease of use. What makes TAG unique is a small form factor plugable (SFP) connection with copper or optical variants. MSA and non-MSA SFPs are both supported for optimum performance with SDI video.
The supported SFP range also includes a mini BNC SDI video transceiver for use with the SxTAG hand-held instrument to allow closed loop testing in SDI environments. Optical to SDI and back conversion at either 1300nm or 1550nm mono-mode is available.
Full T&M Toolset
The SxTAG’s advanced analysis toolset also includes all the usual audio and video T&M tools. A built-in signal generator provides standard test signals from Full Field White to Ramps and an optional zone plate generator. Video analysis tools include waveform with low pass mode, horizontal/vertical zoom and chroma analysis, and a vectorscope with zoom and support for composite chroma.
The device comes standard with 16 channel audio meters, audio meters for AES I/O and an audio channel status window. A Dolby Bitstream Generator and Analyzer is optional, as is a breakout cable for AES I/O and balanced analog I/O, calibrated to broadcast levels. A headphone jack is standard on all Sx models.
SMPTE 2022-6 IP encapsulation/decapsulation on optical 10GE multimode fiber is available. The same SFP will handle SMPTE 2110 with NMOS in the new release. It can be used for generation, monitoring and analysis of either SMPTE IP video format.
