Genelec Upgrades Subwoofer Technology

Genelec 7050C subwoofer
Genelec has introduced the upgraded 7050C subwoofer with an extended low-frequency response and lower distortion than its predecessor.
Genelec said the 7050C represents the next stage in the company’s ongoing goal of achieving absolute transparency in sound reproduction. The LSE enclosure has been refined to deliver unconventionally clean audio output even at peak levels. There is a three dB increase in SPL capability, plus a by-passable professional bass management system and universal switched-mode power supply.
Designed to work in both stereo or multichannel audio systems, the 7050C’s bass management system provides five input and output channels with 85 Hz low-pass/high-pass filters, plus a discrete 120 Hz LFE signal input with selectable +10 dB boost.
The 7050C measures 16.125 inches in height, with a width of 13.75 inches and a depth of 12.5625 inches. It contains a single eight-inch magnetically shielded low frequency driver. The speaker is housed in a Genelec LSE spiral enclosure for extended LF response and extremely low distortion.
The 7050C can be calibrated for its acoustic environment with a comprehensive set of rear panel DIP switches. Adjustable settings include phase and low frequency roll-off and the activation of the +10 dB LFE level. The sensitivity of the Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) power-saving mode reduces the unit’s power consumption to 0.5 watts in standby mode.
