Allen & Heath Introduces SQ Series Audio Consoles

Allen & Heath has introduced the two new SQ Series consoles, the rack-mountable SQ-5 with 16 onboard preamps, 17 faders and eight softkeys and the SQ-6, which provides 24 preamps, 25 faders, four assignable rotary controls and 16 softkeys.

Allen & Heath said both models support up to 56 input channels via remote expanders and both feature a networking slot for optional Dante, Waves and other cards. The SQ series has an ecosystem of apps, remote expanders, networking cards and personal mixers that multiplies expansion and integration possibilities.

The SQ-6, powered by Allen & Heath’s XCVI 96kHz FPGA engine, excels at live production. It offers high-resolution audio fidelity and an ultra-low latency of <0.7ms. The console features 24 onboard mic preamps, plus eight stereo FX engines with dedicated return channels and access to the renowned RackExtra FX library.

SQ is a natural choice for in-ear monitor setups, providing 12 stereo mixes (configurable as groups or auxes), while automatic mic mixing makes it an excellent choice for TV and panel shows. It’s fully integrated in the mixer too, with no extra latency, so there is no need to route the audio to an internal DSP rack or an external plugin system.
