Founded in 1987 as Hoffmann Trading, this company became artec Security in 1995 and was re-founded in 2000 as artec Technologies. This change of name reflected the breadth of its activities, covering both media and broadcast and video security.
artec technologies is run by joint managing directors Ingo Hoffmann, who is responsible for development and strategic planning, and Thomas Hoffmann, who handles business development, marketing, sales and distribution.
Based in Diepholz in the Lower Saxony region of Germany, artec's main product on the broadcast side of its business is XENTAURIX, a network/internet-based streaming and recording system for TV, radio, video and metadata. Used by TV and radio broadcasters and IPTV and cable network providers as a long-term video recorder for compliance recording, XENTAURIX is also used for logging transmitted commercials on behalf of a station's customers and provide them with these clips as online compliance alternatives.
The product range comprises the XBL-Broadcaster Standard, a standalone system offering up to 8-channels; XBL-Broadcaster Professional, a full system with unlimited channels and online video recording capability; and the XBL-TS Broadcaster transport stream system with 4/8 and more channels designed for recording and distribution of high resolution media transport streams. artec technologies also produces a Cloud TV service with search engine, aimed at media companies, press centres, news marketing and advertising agencies. This includes a player and playback feature, which runs through standard browser using the Silverlight plug-in.
