Dejero Debuts CellSat at IBC

Dejero CellSat increases backhaul quality and confidence. It eliminates booking satellite time, and it recently debuted at IBC.

Dejero recently announced a collaboration with Newtec, a European company headquartered in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. Newtec is a specialist in the design, development, and manufacture of equipment and technologies for satellite communications, such as for the recently unveiled Dejero CellSat solution.

The Dejero CellSat was introduced and prominently displayed in the Dejero and Newtec exhibit stands at IBC. Dejero CellSat intelligently combines cellular connectivity from multiple mobile network providers with Ku-band IP satellite connectivity from Intelsat, using Dejero’s patented network blending technology.

A Newtec Dialog IP modem configured for the CellSat service is provided as part of the solution, which also includes Dejero transmission and receiving equipment, software, connectivity services to the CellSat network, cloud management, and support. The result is that CellSat users don’t have to book satellite time. It is available to boost bandwidth when needed, at the push of a button.

To achieve the push-button satellite boost, Dejero CellSat is tightly integrated with Newtec’s unique Mx-DMA technology as part of the Newtec Dialog platform. Mx-DMA combines the best of SCPC and TDMA to flexibly and seamlessly manage bandwidth on demand, while avoiding fragmentation of space segment. The system also intelligently manages and blends the satellite connection with the available cellular connections. This enables Dejero to provide the aggregated bandwidth that delivers additional reliability when broadcasting live from the field.

CellSat is managed through the cloud-based Dejero Control management system from a browser, allowing customers to remotely control equipment, monitor live feeds, route content to the desired broadcast facility, and view usage and billing reports. The integration with Newtec enables Dejero to perform front line support duties for the CellSat solution, managing the blended network of the cellular and satellite connections.

By analyzing the characteristics of up to six cellular connections and the Intelsat Ku-band IP connection in real time, Dejero’s algorithm dynamically and intelligently manages the fluctuating bandwidth and latency, choosing the optimal path for delivering the IP packets to the playout destination.
