MuxLab Presents Comprehensive Selection of SDI Extenders and More

At IBC 2017, MuxLab offered multiple methods of signal extension for the distribution of HD/3G/6G-SDI signals throughout facilities, studios or labs. Additionally, MuxLab showcased two new solutions for integrators, enabling the flexible distribution of SDI up to 12G and the opportunity to streamline AV distribution systems using SDI equipment.

MuxLab's new SDI over IP 4K Uncompressed Extender (model 500767) was showcased live on the show floor, by connecting a camera feed to multiple displays. Numerous sources and displays can connect through this Extender to a 10Gig Ethernet switch to support point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint configurations. A virtual matrix of cameras, mixers, displays and other equipment can be easily installed and accessed anytime, all managed from a central location. For point-to-point extensions, integrators can use multimode fiber to connect a source to its display up to 400 meters in distance, or CAT5/6 up to 30 meters. All scenarios support uncompressed video resolutions up to 4K@30Hz (4:4:4), providing unaltered high quality video transmission with zero latency.

MuxLab’s 3G-SDI /RS232 over IP Extender (model 500756) delivers broadcast quality 3G/HD/SD-SDI video with embedded audio over a LAN. It’s a low-latency solution that can be configured in a variety of ways, providing a cost-effective alternative to a dedicated SDI matrix switch, supporting point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint configurations. It can extend a source up to 100 meters from the LAN, and allows users to send SDI over CAT5/6 cable instead of using the traditional coax infrastructure, curtailing costs while simplifying the installation. This solution is ideal for live video delivery around a facility or running media exchanges between locations.

The 6G-SDI Extender over UTP with Ethernet (model 500733) allows cameras and other AV sources to be extended from the display using industry-standard CAT5e/6 cable up to 150 meters in distance. Users can extend four HD-SDI feeds, two 3G-SDI feeds or one 6G-SDI feed over a single cable. Two Ethernet ports are available and may be used as a return channel to enable easy AV monitoring, tally light, talk-back and camera control unit (CCU). RS232 pass-through allows users to control end devices.

The 6G-SDI Extender over Fiber with Return Channel (model 500734) extends 6G-SDI up to 80 kilometers over single mode fiber cable or up to 400 meters over multimode fiber optic cable. This product can simultaneously transmit up to 9Gbps of data throughout over the fiber link, and allows for versatile combinations of sources. It supports a simultaneous transmission of mixed signals such as one 6G-SDI + one 3G-SDI, or two 3G-SDI + two HD-SDI, and many other combinations up to 9Gbps. RS232 pass-through provides for tally light, camera control unit (CCU) and control of end devices.

MuxLab’s 12G-SDI 1x6 Splitter (model 500718) delivers resolutions up to 4K on all six outputs simultaneously, ideal for broadcasters wanting to maintain top quality video when delivering one AV source to multiple destinations. A source using 3G-SDI can also be delivered to one, two or all six outputs at the same time. This solution automatically detects a 12G/6G/3G/HD/SD-SDI input and re-clocks and regenerates the signal at the output for the ideal distance between source and displays.

MuxLab’s 3G-SDI 1×4 Splitter (model 500719) delivers 3G/HD/SD-SDI to four displays at the same time. The splitter supports up to 1080p video, including 480i (SD-SDI), 720p/1080i (HD-SDI) and 1080p (3G-SDI). The solution automatically detects the 3G/HD/SD-SDI signal and re-clocks and regenerates the signal at the output for the ideal distance between source and displays.
