TV 2 Norway Rooftop Teleport
Hiltron Communications has completed of a major teleport relocation project for TV 2, Norway’s largest commercial television broadcaster. The teleport is situated on the roof of the new MediaCity Bergen complex and will provide wide-ranging satellite connectivity for content ingest, forwarding and transmission as well as communication with digital newsgathering vehicles and mobile production trucks.
With a teleport contract secured in partnership with Danmon Group Norway, Hiltron took charge of integrating a large communication system for TV 2, which included seven satellite antennas, control processors, signal distribution and optical fibre cabling. The project included three ASC Signal motorised antennas, one relocated 3.7 metre manual ASC antenna and three fixed downlink 3.8 metre Laminas antennas.
Hiltron also provided and integrated transmission and receive matrices as well as a fibre-optic system for RF transmission signals and GPS and UHF reception signals. Their multi-feed systems were integrated, and are capable of supporting up to six feed units with 12 fibre-optic low-noise boxes per antenna — the feed systems can be positioned with up to 20 degrees of offset.
Further equipment from Hiltron's product range includes three Hiltron HACU antenna control units for motorised antennas and six Hiltron HCS4 multifunction control units.
