Meredith Orders Hitachi-Comark Transmitters for Repack

Meredith Broadcast & Digital and Comark validate 22-year relationship with a 6-transmitter order.

Hitachi Kokusai Electric Comark (“Comark”) recently announced that Meredith Local Media Group has ordered Comark’s PARALLAX transmitters for the upcoming FCC repack.

Transmitters will be delivered for each of the six Meredith stations affected by the FCC repack including KSMO Kansas City, WHNS Greenville SC, WNEM Bay City MI, WPCH Atlanta, WFSB Hartford CT, and WGGB Springfield MA. Three of these transmitter sites will be delivered in 2017.

The new DTV transmitters ordered vary from 10kW through 65kW to meet each of the stations’ new Transmitter Power Output (TPO) levels.  Each of the PARALLAX transmitters will be delivered complete with EXACT-V2 exciters (ATSC 1.0, software upgradeable to ATSC 3.0), liquid cooling, and RF mask filter systems. Comark will also manage the shipment and the offloading and placement of the new equipment in each transmitter facility.

The transmitter purchases are covered under a Master Purchase Agreement (MPA) that provides Meredith with the key framework for the new transmitters and associated services within the group’s six DTV transmitter facilities (main and auxiliary).  Under the MPA, Comark provides guaranteed delivery, program management, on-site installation & proof-of-performance testing, and extended warranties on each transmitter. Comark will also provide system design services and site surveys for all of the repack stations to ensure a smooth installation process.

Comark’s PARALLAX UHF high efficiency transmitter debuted at NAB 2016. It is “designed for repack” providing broadband Doherty performance and a future proof design. It is the highest power liquid cooled solid state transmitter available with 2kW per PA module for UHF, up to 27.5kW TPO per rack cabinet. It is made in the USA, serviced and supported out of Southwick, MA.
