Timeline Shoots Speedway in 4K for BT

Timeline covered the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup in 4K for BT Sport.

Timeline sent two trucks to the event at the Adrian Flux Arena, Kings Lynn in the UK: UHD2, its new IP 4K HDR OB truck for World Feed coverage and UHD1, and its 4K UHD truck which handled the BT Sport complete programme.

Nine 4K cameras were used including two super slo-motion. The Timeline truck captured 4K for live transmission and made a downconverted HD output. There is no HDR although the World Feed truck could do HDR if required.

Trackside there were three HD radiocam upconverted to 4K. “Though they are promised to us soon, no suitable native 4K RF links exist,” says Timeline. “The three trackside RF cameras worked in the Pits areas as well.

The signal was contributed from the speedway circuit via three satellite paths directly into BT downlink facilities.

The event is one of 34 speedway events broadcast live on BT Sport during 2017.
