Dubai Channels Network Builds Two New OB Vans with Lawo VSM Control at the Core

Dubai Channels Network (DCN), official media organization of Dubai, has been a long time customer of Lawo, having previously deployed numerous Lawo V__pro8 video processing units for embedding/de-embedding, frame-syncing, color correction and other tasks, while also reducing valuable weight, rack-space and power requirements.

In addition, DCN recently ordered Lawo’s VSM Broadcast Control and Monitoring System for two new OB vans to be installed on redundantly designed servers, providing sophisticated and flexible, IP-based broadcast control and monitoring, integrating management of all on-board and external equipment within a single system.

Lawo’s V__pro8 video processing units are used for embedding/de-embedding, frame-syncing, color correction and other tasks on board the OB Van.

VSM uses a TCP/IP backbone and offers maximum interoperability through the use of manufacturer-independent protocols. Making it a good choice for OB Vans and remote production companies, VSM also controls all major brands and models of video and audio routers, video and audio mixers, intercoms, under-monitor displays (UMD) and multiviewers, as well as glue equipment and other third-party devices.

Custom user panels and interfaces can be configured to meet the requirements of different workflows and applications, while the whole system is under redundant control. Settings across the complete OB van can be stored and re-called by the push of a button. All this provides benefits in advanced workflow and simplified operation during productions.
