​Bay Microsystems Solution for Geo-Diverse Collaboration

Bay Microsystems releases high speed WAN extension FX-50, and a new version of its Max Data Xchange (MaxDX) solution for users wanting to handle large data volumes at high speed over long distances.

The need to create, manipulate and distribute content regardless of geographic location has exploded. Unfortunately, most network infrastructures and related processes were not originally intended to efficiently support geo-diverse collaborative workflows. When pressed to do so, these legacy systems introduce unwanted delays, latencies and process inefficiencies that are transparent under more localized and manual operating procedures.

That’s where Bay Microsystems thinks it can score. It says its Max Data Xchange (MaxDX) makes content workflows more efficient, simpler and more productive by accelerating various processes for backup, archiving, remote collaboration and satellite upload of event data.

The FX Series products replace Bay’s Intelligent Bandwidth Exchange (IBEx) appliances. The older products have been deployed “across extreme distances” within US Government and DoD networks since 2006.

“FX Series in combination with the upgraded capabilities of the MaxDX platform and MaxDX Manager software will enable much greater density of configurable interfaces in a compact form factor, scalable performance from satellite rates to 100Gbps, resource/performance monitoring and ease of integration into existing infrastructures,” says Harry Carr, CEO and President.

“With our entry into the commercial markets our customer prospects and partners repeatedly question our ability to achieve our performance claims. So, when recently challenged by a Tier 1 partner to show Bay’s ability to move 6TB in less than 4 hours over several thousand miles, we moved 100TB in ~23 hours between Maryland and California over a standard 10G link without compressing or otherwise manipulating the source data.”

According to Bay, its products enable access to or transfer of data across regions, countries and continents resulting in streamlined distributed workflows, elimination of unnecessary data replication and real-time access to data in remote and economical locations.
