Langley Productions Stores Assets For Reality TV Series Production With Archion

Langley Productions has been producing the reality TV series “Cops,” as well as other shows, with a high-performance, shared storage solution from CA-based Archion Technologies.

Now in its 29th season, “Cops” originally aired on FOX TV until season 26, when it moved to Spike TV. Langley’s other reality TV series “Jail,” has been on television for nine years, and also airs on Spike TV. Both are leveraging the flexibility and reliability of the Archion EditStor system.

MItsuo Goto, Post Producer at Langley Productions, and Abbey Wysocki, Post Production Supervisor, Langley Productions, said they have been pleased with the speed, stability and overall functionality of EditStor.

“They (Archion) even let us come into their office to try to break their system in their presence, but we couldn’t do it,” Wysocki said.

Langley has over 20 Avid editors connected with 10GigE to an EditStor EO storage array to help produce their shows Cops and Jail, along with on-going development projects.

“It’s an amazing workflow that Goto has worked out to bring the ‘COPS’ to television,” said James Tucci, Archion’s CTO. “10GigE is crucial in getting all the footage ingested, logged and edited in time."

At Langley Productions, Archion’s EditStor makes it easy for staff to share assets on demanding post production workflows.

Langley is upgrading the post unit to the newest version of Archion’s ShareConnector, so that the staff can easily share data between its various television productions through the EdiStor. The latest version of ShareConnector, with its improved speed and ease of use, makes it a good choice for Avid Media Composer users.

Because Langley already had existing fiber optics cabling, they were able to transition their post department to a 10-Gig Ethernet system and recycle all of that cabling, saving them tens of thousands of dollars.

Each product from Archion’s EditStor line is a network-attached storage (NAS) and offers users the ability to easily share assets for demanding post production workflows. The EditStor line provides digital video professionals with high performance, scalable and affordable shared storage solutions that also provide broad functionality.

Archion’s EditStor NAS is designed to make media sharing easy for digital video editors using Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Final Cut 7 and FCPX, Avid Media Composer and Pro Tools, Sony Vegas, and other popular media creation tools.
