Globo Launches 4K HDR VOD with ATEME

Brazilian broadcaster Globo has launched the first 4K HDR VOD product in the country and is using ATEME’s Titan encoder to do so.

This new product is available on smart 4K and HDR TVs with Globo’s OTT multi-screen platform, Globo Play, and is also accessible on PCs, smartphones and tablets.

Titan is described by ATEME as a multi-codec/format video transcoding software for mezzanine, STB and ABR VOD, post-production, playout and archive applications.

Titan can run on any commercial off-the-shelf server, in any environment, removing all infrastructure constraints and reducing time-to-market and OPEX.

“Globo’s main objective is to ensure its customers benefit from the latest technologies,” said Marcelo Souza, digital media technology director at Globo. “ATEME Titan enables us to meet our goal by providing high quality workflows involving high dynamic range.”

Gustavo Dutra, Brazil’s country manager at ATEME, said: “ATEME deployed its TITAN solution at Globo’s premises earlier this year. With Titan being a future-proof solution, Globo can easily benefit from the latest Titan software upgrade, including HDR capabilities. It will support Globo’s continued development in TV for years to come.”
