A new Comark LPTV DTV transmitter replaced a retired analog transmitter at Maine’s Harpswell Community TV.
Hitachi Kokusai Electric Comark LLC recently announced that a new LPTV system was delivered to Harpswell Community Television in Harpswell, Maine. Harpswell Community TV is a commercial-free, public, educational, governmental (P.E.G.) TV station that delivers diverse local programming to their community of license. The new DTV transmitter system is broadcasting both HD and SD programs to the local community, replacing their aging analog transmitter system.
COMARK provided Harpswell CTV a LPTV-8000 1kW average power digital solid-state UHF transmitter. The LPTV-8000 transmitter includes an EXACT-ATSC exciter and 50V DC LDMOS air-cooled amplifier technology for the utmost on-air reliability. Introduced at NAB 2015, the EXACT-ATSC exciters are built on a 1RU rack-mount hardware platform that is loaded with ATSC firmware. The EXACT-ATSC exciters feature “DualCast” technology that is easily upgraded via firmware from ATSC 1.0 to 3.0; protecting the station’s investment today for use tomorrow.
Since the 2012 introduction of the LPTV-8000 series of transmitters, COMARK has shipped hundreds of low power transmitters to broadcasters in the United States, Bermuda, and various locations in Asia.
In addition to the DTV transmitter, COMARK supplied a LEX-2210 multi-program encoder/multiplexer. The LEX series is a powerful yet extremely easy-to-use platform that features a common 2RU hardware platform, which is loaded with the appropriate license file to configure the desired number of high and standard definition programs. The LEX series sets a new standard for picture quality, functional integration, and technology innovation for ATSC digital broadcast encoders and multiplexers.
