SAM Sports FrameMagic

SAM (rebranded from Quantel Snell) has FrameMagic technology which it claims delivers “the fastest workflows at HD and 4K – way beyond any other 4K solution on the market.”

At IBC last month the company previewed 4K workflows on its LiveTouch sports highlighting systems and Enterprise sQ fast-turnaround production solutions.

“FrameMagic is a unique SAM technology,” says Neil Maycock, EVP Marketing. “The secret to its speed is its copy-free workflow – no new media is created when edits are made except for any changed frames (dissolves etc); edits simply comprise a new set of instructions for the order in which the frames are played out on a timeline. This means that the moment editing is completed, the finished piece is ready for playout.

“Lightning-fast 4K working is the result of our ongoing investment in our Enterprise sQ and LiveTouch products, and is just the latest development from a very exciting roadmap we have set out for these systems. Couple this with the superb 4K capabilities of our Sirius 800 routers and Kahuna switchers, and we have one of the most comprehensive and capable 4K offerings on the market,” Maycock concluded.
