IBC Launch for New Version iTX Playout

IBC 2015 will see the latest version of Grass Valley’s integrated playout system, iTX. Version 2.8 of the automated delivery platform offers capacity for IP operation, new features for working with compressed signals and support of Softel subtitling.

Grass Valley is aiming the iTX IT-based automatic transmission system at an increasingly diverse broadcast market, where many platforms and outlets are serviced from a single, integrated playout device. The latest upgrade to iTX features a broadcast engine able to produce a simulcast, bringing increased ability to scale the system for live programming, using real-time processing algorithms. It is also claimed to improve the automated ingest of material for production chains, which the manufacturer says brings down the cost of operating TV channels.

Version 2.8 includes IP working, with support for compressed ins and outs using MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 transport streams complying with the DVB standard. It is also able to simultaneously broadcast SDI/IP transmissions or IP-only to streamed platforms and multiplexes equipped with IP. Softel subtitling is included for redundant broadcast of WEST, OP42, OP47, CC608/708, Open and DVB, which can be converted from a variety of file formats, while also offering a live captioning input.
