SWR Upgrades MUX with Dimetis OSS

German broadcaster SWR has updated their DVB equipment, and continues to use the Dimetis BOSS BROADCAST Manager for the management of their Multiplex Center

Südwestrundfun (SWR), has finished a project to renew the hardware for encoding their DVB multiplex (MUX), along with a new MUX for Saarländischen Runkfunks (SR) which SWR operate as a service for SR. Each MUX carries 4 services with VBR encoding. Source streams are transrated to create the 4 MUXs. System security is ensured through a 1+1 redundant architecture.

SWR is a the second largest TV station within Germany´s ARD group and airs to the south west region. SR covers the Saarland region.

The existing operation support system, Dimetis BOSS BROADCAST Manager, monitors and controls all devices of the new Multiplex-Center. It indicates the system´s state at any time by pre-defined displays or on active requests. When failures occur the backup-switching mode activates backup devices automatically. BOSS BROADCAST Manager also supports SWR with service management tasks in its role as a service provider for SR.

The multiplexed output is monitored with the BOSS Stream Viewer integrated multiviewer It displays the live output signals and their respective QoS parameters for each of the four multiplexes.
