Pico Digital to Acquire International Datacasting
Pico acquisition includes IDC’s LASER Multi-Program Splicer
San Diego’s Pico Digital Inc provider of multimedia delivery solutions to the broadcast, cable, satellite, and broadband markets, has entered into an agreement to acquire the broadcast products business from International Datacasting Corporation (IDC) . IDC is a technology provider for radio and television stations, data and digital cinema. The acquisition includes IDC's product portfolio, customers, and supplier relationships. Most of IDC's employees are expected to join Pico Digital.
The acquisition expands Pico Digital’s global footprint, including offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Panama, Taiwan, Japan and the Netherlands and more than 500 customers worldwide. Pico Digital and IDC have highly complementary product portfolios. The combined forces will immediately be able to offer a broader range of solutions, supported by an even stronger worldwide team.
The acquisition will enable the acceleration of the roadmap and planned deployment of IDC's flagship LASER solution. IDC's LASER Multi-Program Splicer (MPS) is a cost-effective solution for seamless broadcast program and ad insertion on multiple channels simultaneously. LASER MPS is particularly suited for regionalization of content in digital terrestrial networks, cable networks, and satellite content distribution networks.
The proposed acquisition is expected to close in June 2015, subject to obtaining the approval of IDC's shareholders.
