TVU Networks Joins With Bitcentral For Integrated File Transfer and Asset Management

TVU Networks and BitCentral have developed a joint solution that automatically (and wirelessly) transfers files over IP from the field to the station for ingest into a central server and asset management application.

TVU Networks is a provider of live mobile IP (bonded cellular) newsgathering systems and Bitcentral, markets news production, management and publishing solutions. The companies will combine TVU’s TVUPack mobile IP video transmission solutions with Bitcentral’s Oasis content management, archiving and collaboration platform to help reporters move closer to the story and get news to air faster.

With this integration, field reporters and crews can leverage TVUPack’s multiple IP data connections and wireless HotSpot functionality to automatically upload files from the field to the broadcast production facility where it is automatically ingested into the Bitcentral Oasis asset management system. By utilizing multiple data connections simultaneously, field crews will be able ingest raw video content, edited stories and other large files quickly and efficiently into the Bitcentral production workflow directly. The transferred file is immediately accessible to news directors, producers or other station personnel.

Joe Addalia, Director of Technology, Hearst Television, said that, “As newsgathering becomes more mobile, TVU and Bitcentral are allowing our reporters to do more from the field while maintaining the same workflow that they would use at the studio.”

With its ability to simultaneously transmit over multiple combinations of cellular, WiFi, microwave, and BGAN, Ka-band and Ku-band satellite links, as well as the Cloud, TVUPack enables broadcasters to deliver live streaming video from any location.

The Bitcentral Oasis asset management and archive platform enables broadcast stations to automatically archive stories, media and metadata with built in sharing and collaboration tools for seamless access for broadcasters from any location. The Oasis integrates with existing news production systems and empowers users everywhere to access, share and move stories over existing bandwidth without traditional time consuming and linear feeds.

With its simple one-button operation and ability to simultaneously transmit over multiple combinations of cellular, WIFI, microwave, and BGAN, Ka-band and Ku-band satellite links, TVUPack enables broadcasters to deliver live streaming video from practically any location. TVUPack also offers broadcasters TVU's proprietary Inverse StatMux Plus transmission protocol and Smart VBR technology to ensure enhanced resiliency and superior picture quality in fluctuating bandwidth conditions, as well as the ability to transmit HD video with sub-second latency.

Already in use by hundreds of leading broadcast organizations around the world, the TVUPack family of IP transmission solutions gives broadcasters a powerful and reliable tool to distribute live video content to broadcast, online, and mobile platforms.

TVU Networks will exhibit at NAB 2015 booth SU3605.

Bitcentral will exhibit at NAB 2015 booth SU4410.
