ASG Adds Grass Valley AMPP To Control Room

Advanced Systems Group (ASG), a solutions provider has partnered with Grass Valley to integrate the Agile Media Processing Platform (AMPP) cloud-based software as a service into ASG’s new Virtual Production Control Room.

Powered by Google Cloud, the VPCR is said to require no on-prem services to deliver secure, broadcast-quality live event coverage. It’s a real-time remote production service supporting content contribution via major videoconferencing applications, SRT, LiveU, and NDI, offering dynamic video switching effects, multi-channel audio, graphics, captions, and more.

“Live cloud-based production is no longer in the proof-of-concept phase. It’s the future – and the future is happening now,” said Mike Cronk, vp of advanced technology, Grass Valley.  “We designed AMPP specifically to address the responsiveness and low-latency requirements of live production, and we’re excited to be included in ASG’s robust solution for real-time remote production.”

“AMPP was designed to mirror broadcast workflows in the cloud, which fits perfectly with our VPCR philosophy,” said Dave Van Hoy, president, ASG. “Grass Valley is helping us create a familiar, reliable, and secure control room in the cloud that delivers production quality that’s comparable to traditional, hardware-based facilities.”

ASG’s VPCR was developed around a multi-vendor solution – instead of an all-in-one service with limited options – to deliver a powerful and versatile virtual control room. The VPCR ecosystem includes more than two dozen companies, with multiple vendor options in virtually every control room position.

VPCR is available in three different subscription models, with optional engineering services or fully managed production services.
