SDVI Expands Rally Media Supply Chain Platform

Rally Insight is a data analytics service and Rally Connect is a content and metadata exchange service. Both are intended to simplify and accelerate delivery and receipt of content across the media supply chain.

“Our introductions of Rally Insight and Rally Connect underscore how valuable it is to have the right kind of data available to make better decisions, and how interconnected the media supply chain has become,” said Larry Kaplan, President and CEO of SDVI. “Data is key to understanding where supply chain optimization can be achieved and how to make more profitable decisions. And over many years running supply chains for some of the world’s largest media companies, we see huge efficiency opportunities if these companies can connect their individual supply chains, easily exchange content and metadata, and build a trusted model that eliminates duplicate work on either end.”

The Rally platform collects massive amounts of data from every step in the media supply chain. Generic business data visualization tools fail to address the unique characteristics of media content, and this lack of sophistication can make it difficult for media supply chain operators to obtain relevant results based on custom metadata.

Simon Eldridge, Chief Product Officer for SDVI, said, “By filtering and presenting the data collected by the Rally platform, Rally Insight gives organizations a new level of intelligence about their operations, which helps them make faster, better decisions. Right out of the box, dashboards and custom charts facilitate fast and easy data visualization, enabling operators to filter and group data by show, season, project, or any other custom metadata. The result is easy access to the information that matters most to users.

“When our customers are about to sign new deals for content and launch new services, Rally Insight can tell them exactly what their preparation and delivery costs will be. They also see time and cost information for the resources being consumed, which is useful for uncovering further optimization opportunities and for more accurate matching of costs to revenues.”

Rally Connect is said to make it easy for partners to set up ingest or delivery profiles that streamline the movement of content and metadata. Eliminating duplicate processing and reducing friction across the supply chain, Rally Connect dramatically improves media organizations’ efficiency and agility in bringing content to new platforms.

“For a content aggregator such as Sky, Rally Connect is a complete game-changer,” said David Travis, Group Director of Content, Broadcast & Platforms for Sky. “It will introduce widespread efficiencies and simplify the ways we receive and manage content from a wide range of content providers.”
