Tolka Launches TV Anywhere

Tolka, a telco technology firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, has launched a TV Anywhere package.

This allows broadcasters to support revenue-generating personalized advertising without a return feed, integrating TCAS (Tolka Conditional Access System) for content protection.

The Anywhere works in conjunction with three hardware elements from ADTH, along with a software app.

The first hardware element is Tolka's DTV USB Dongle for Android, a compact device that can be plugged into an Android smartphone, tablet or smart TV. DTV signals can be received via a simple antenna attachment. Users gain a personalized viewing experience without eating into their service data allowance.

Secondly, Tolka's WiFi Transmitter for Android and Apple iOS receives DTV broadcasts and automatically converts them into WiFi signals for sharing with nearby Android and iOS devices.

Thirdly comes the Tolka Home Gateway, a combined TV receiver and hub designed for direct connection to the household internet router. The hub can be used by several people at the same time, enabling all smartphones, tablets and smart TVs in the home to receive terrestrial, cable, and satellite sources via WiFi.

The software component is Tolka's AIRial app, which is compatible with Android and Apple mobile devices. It can also be used with Android TV, Apple TV, LG WebOS, Samsung Tizen and many third-party smart TVs.

TV Anywhere brings a range of user experience features. Auto/manual channel scan establishes which DTV channels are available at the viewer's current location. These are then displayed as a channel list. An integral electronic program guide displays current and upcoming broadcasts, complete with transmission times. Aspect ratio can be adjusted to match the viewer's display screen or preferred alternative.
