SALTO used the Nomalab browser based platform to provision thousands of hours of content, acquired from a wide variety of French and international content owners.
SALTO is an ambitious joint venture between leading media groups France Télévisions, M6 and TF1 and launched recently with over 10,000 of hours of content.
To ensure simple and straight-forward deliveries, SALTO wanted to put as few technical constraints as possible on content providers. The Nomalab platform and services allow SALTO’s team to receive programmes with subtitles, in any format, to play and assess incoming content immediately upon delivery; and to identify subtitles requiring fixing.
In just a few weeks prior to its launch, SALTO had to provision thousands of hours of content, acquired from a wide variety of French and international content owners. Following the launch, the renewal of SALTO's abundant offering requires the continuous provision of large quantities of films and series.
The Nomalab platform and services allow SALTO and its team to :
- receive programmes with subtitles, in any format
- play and assess incoming content immediately upon delivery
- easily identify subtitles requiring fixing
- trigger the generation and delivery of mezzanine files to their streaming service provider Bedrock
- select and create extracts for marketing and promotion
- interoperate seamlessly with their traffic and rights management systems.
In addition, the Nomalab web UI :
- uses nothing else than a browser, on site as well as working remotely
- always complies with the Bedrock specification for mezzanine files
- meets the deadlines with volumes of hundreds of titles per day
- requires no hardware or software investment
- doesn't generate unnecessary file movements or file waste
- is always accompanied by Nomalab’s ‘Ops’ team for the supervision of all jobs.
