Pixellot Scales Auto-Production Of Chinese Basketball

Pixellot has partnered with Chinese tech company, Earth Mountain Technology to introduce AI-automated production and produce live sports content in China.

Earth Mountain Technology is a technological innovator focusing on broadcasting, graphics and digital video products. It has been producing content for the Chinese broadcasting and cable TV market as well as digital videos, for more than 20 years.

In July 2020 Pixellot and Earth Mountain provided AI production for the Nike High School Basketball Tournament which took place in two cities. More than 1,000 athletes competed in the 17-day tournament that was viewed by more than a million unique viewers on the Migu Sports App.

“The opportunity to work with a leading sports technology company such as Pixellot is a valuable asset for Earth Mountain,” said Earth Mountain Director of New Media Production Business Development, Shen Jun. “We’re exploring many interesting local partnerships in professional sports the youth market and in the education space.”

Earth Mountain will introduce Pixellot to the local market, with the intention of opening a local Pixellot office and co-developing new solutions that will be specifically tailored to the requirements of the Chinese market. One of the strategic projects being discussed is with China Unicom, one of the official sponsors of the 2022 Olympic games, to stream winter sports exclusively over their new 5G network.

“This partnership will allow the Pixellot platform to be used in one of the most unique and exciting markets in the world,” said Pixellot CEO Alon Werber. “We’re thrilled that this partnership is off to a great start following the Nike Basketball tournament. Earth Mountain is a veteran in the field and their experience in sports production as well as IT Infrastructure will allow us to grow quickly and adhere to the requirements of the Chinese market. Last month, Pixellot reached a major milestone of 1,000,000 hours of live sports production and this partnership with Earth Mountain will enable Pixellot to reach the two million production hours much faster.”
