DELTACAST Flex Powers Panasonic’s Live Production Platform

Panasonic’s new KAIROS IT/IP centric live production platform is using DeltaCast’s Flex technology to provide improved productivity and complete baseband connectivity in input and output flexibility. Kairos relies on Flex to deal with SDI, HDMI and DisplayPort video interfacing.

The DELTACAST Flex concept is based on external video modules connected to a gateway card hosted in the Flex appliance that enhances the product’s flexibility, density and scalability. It includes a complete ecosystem with a new approach to video interfacing, compared to traditional capture and playout PCI Express cards located in the computer case.

The Panasonic Kairos video processing platform achieves higher performance by fully utilizing the power and flexibility of its CPU and GPU, balancing total processing load without the configuration constraints of traditional hardware-based systems. It also offers unlimited flexibility in terms of inputs, outputs and operations for the efficient production of live video.

The Kairos system consists of a core main frame, which handles all video processing and manages video I/O universally through a DELTACAST Flex gateway card. Video connectivity is added through the Flex modules on a case-by-case basis, depending on the environment Kairos will be used in.
