PCB installed 52 DR5000 IRDs.
ATEME has provided its Kyrion DR5000 Integrated Receiver Decoders (IRDs) to Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting in New Zealand.
PCB is a government initiative that supports Pacific free-to-air broadcasters through the delivery of New Zealand-originated content for rebroadcast, and the provision of training to encourage the production of local content.
It opted for 52 DR5000 IRDs to be installed in 25 downlink locations.
“Some of our clients are in remote parts of the world, including Kiribati, Solomon Islands, The Kingdom of Tonga, and Niue. Support and service are obviously hard to come by quickly in these places, so the DR5000’s robustness and user-friendly operation were key to our decision,” said Natasha Meleisea, Chief Executive of PBC. “With many of our broadcast partners spread across the Pacific, being able to roll out the decoders and configure them on site via USB proved to be another huge advantage. The ease of configuration, coupled with the skill of the onsite team, saw our fastest installation completed within 15 minutes.”

The Kyrion solution provides PCB with support for HEVC, in addition to 10-bit 4:2:2, SD, HD, UHD, MPEG2 and H264.
