Enensys, based in Britany, France, provides multicast ABR technology.
Edgeware, a Swedish provider of content preparation, unicast CDN and streaming technology, is collaborating globally over sales and technology with French vendor of multicast ABR and LTE Broadcast media streaming products.
The two say they will combine their product portfolios to target their respective markets and customer bases.
Edgeware has so far deployed over 200 private unicast CDNs globally and continues to develop technology for internet TV delivery with a focus on unicast streaming. Enensys on the other hand has specialized in multicast, especially for mobile operators, which complements unicast. The two companies plan to offer a combined portfolio addressing both the broadband fixed line and mobile operator markets.
“We see immediate opportunities in a number of markets thanks to this collaboration, including so called ‘multicast ABR’ for broadband network operators in our fixed-line customer base,” said Andy Hooper, VP Strategic Alliances at Edgeware. “Our customers will benefit from the same technology already proven for global mobile operators being pre-integrated with their Edgeware CDN.”
That Enensys technology was extended through the company’s acquisition in January 2019 of Expway, a supplier of mobile phone and set top box middleware. This enables Enensys to claim that its products now cover the entire mobile media delivery chain, from the head-end down to the receiver. That prepared the ground for the Edgeware partnership.
